As the elevator
door closed, Giovanni turned back to the window and stared out with a solemn
heart. Giovanni was overcome with anxiety. He felt like he could barely
breathe. On one hand, he wanted to escape this limbo of emotions and fly far
away, out into the unknown. On the other hand, Giovanni had grown attached to
Mira in a way he hadn’t expected and couldn’t explain. He just couldn’t bring
himself to leave Mira again and upset her so.
