Happy New Year’s Eve Everyone!

I invite you to share a good-bye, something you’re grateful for, and a hope or want.

1. I am blessed to have not lost anyone close to me this year, but there have been losses in my family or amongst my friends. To them I say good-bye and rest in peace.

2. I’m grateful for new beginnings and second chances.

3. I want to stop making excuses for myself and do what needs to be done.

Be safe this holiday and be blessed throughout the year.

Christmas 2013

Christmas is a special time of year for so many people. Christians celebrate the birth of Christ. Others who observe this occasion, spend time with loved ones and spread cheer. I think, also, that many people try extra hard to be a better version of themselves than they usually are, during this time.

Christmas isn't just for Christians and I think it's great. Why wouldn't I be grateful for any occasion that brings out the best in people? So anyone reading this today or some time down the road, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving U.S.A. & a Few Other Places

No profound words today about origins and meanings. I’m ready for turkey, pie, and sleep. What’s your holiday tradition for today?

...Oh, and I'll be making a special announcement on Sunday, so stick around! :D

Happy Veteran’s Day U.S.A.

Today is the day we remember and honor the end of wars and the signing of peace treaties. This is the day we thank and honor our veterans for serving in wars (appreciated and unappreciated) to protect the ideals of this country…We also get a day off work (some of us).
To everyone else around the world, I wish you a good day.

Fall Back 1 Hour

For those of us still bound by the crazy laws of Daylight Savings, it’s time to reset our clocks. At least we get another hour of sleep.

It’s Halloween

Halloween is one of those holidays you either love or hate, but fortunately for me, I get to choose to do neither. For many Halloween is full of controversy  and darkness, but for most, it’s just a day that lets kids run with their imaginations and fantasies and lets adults act like kids for a while. Now that doesn’t sound so bad.

I’m not big into celebrating Halloween myself because of its controversial history, but what something was and what it is are two different things. I like scary movies, I like costumes, and I definitely like candy, so why should I stop for just one day to protest a holiday that looks so cute on five year old.

So if you’re heading out to trick-or-treat, be safe and Happy Halloween to you. Otherwise, stay home and watch a movie or read a good book. Don’t be a grumpy-pants and remember to turn off your porch light. There’s no sense in being cruel to little kids.

It’s Columbus Day U.S.A.

Don’t get all huffy- we all know Columbus didn’t discover the Americas and that he had some personal and political issues that haunted his life. Whether you like the guy or not, I think his contribution to the awareness of the Americas is important.

So the guy was a little off in his trajectory to India. If he hadn’t been wrong, who knows how long it would have taken for the rest of western civilization to cross the pond and settle. Not that everything and everyone who came after Columbus was wanted, welcomed, kind, or courteous, but I do acknowledge that history happens for a reason, and I’m glad there’s a North and South America (Thank you Amerigo Vespucci).

Today is Patriot Day U.S.A.

Today is a day to remember the attacks on September 11, 2001. Do you remember where you were when it happened? Have you lost someone to this great tragedy? My heart goes out to all people of the world who’ve been affected by acts of terrorism. Maybe one day we’ll live in a world where our differences aren’t a reason for war.

Happy Labor Day U.S.A.

Today we honor the laborers, or maybe the labors associations, or maybe the contributions of labor to the economic system…huh…well, at least I get to eat hot dogs and watch fireworks.

Seriously, I know why, as a nation, we started celebrating Labor Day, but in all honesty, it’s the mark of summer’s end now. I do make an effort the reflect on the true purpose of the holiday, but I’m so preoccupied with my last of summer vacation.

To everyone else in the world, I hope you’re having a wonderful day.

Author Insights 18: Ways to Follow.

Email is the best way for me to follow a blog, because it reminds me that I'm even following a certain blog and when I'm not in the mood, I simply delete the message or come back to it later.

Wordpress is a community of bloggers and blog followers, and the follow feature is built in, but you can still customize it. If it's a blog I know I really don't want to miss, I'll set up a daily or weekly digest for my email. Other than that, I make a point to visit the Wordpress Reader a few times a week. Wordpress is ideal because it lets you see who's following you and others can see if you are following them.

Networked Blog is great if you're already using it to follow other blogs. I also like it because I can see the people who are following me and they can see that I'm following them.

For Blogger, Google Friend connect does this also, but I find that it's sometimes not the best way to follow to actually receive content. Again I can see who's following me and they and see me.

Ah, Feedly. I heart Feedly. It has become my go to blog reader. Most blogs I follow, I actually follow twice, unless I do an email subscription. I try to follow as much as possible using Worpress, Networked Blogs, and Google Friend Connect, just so my little face is there smiling at my favorite bloggers, but I find that if I'm actually reading and commenting on that bloggers content, it's because of Feedly. Feedly keeps me from having to go to all the above mentioned places to visit all the blogs I follow because they are all in one place.

Now, there's Bloglovin. So, for once I'm really late on something I already knew about but didn't realize. Let me explain. I follow a few fashion blogs. I got into the habit because of my sister Tori who loves fashion and is constantly teaching me a thing or two about it. I follow all my fashion blogs through Bloglovin and for some reason figured that's all Bloglovin was for. How silly of me.

Sooooo, I guess I'll be playing around with Bloglovin and Feedly to see which suits me best, but knowing me, I'll probably end up using them both.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

About: 'Brave New Souls: Black Sci-Fi & Fantasy Writers of the 21st Century'

from indiewire.com
I don't reblog much, but I saw a discussion about this on LinkedIn and had to check it out. I understand this may not be for everyone, and that’s ok, but for those interested, please check it out.

“Brandon (a professional writer, screenwriter, and educator based in LA., with over fifteen years of experience) also wants to provide a window into the creative processes of these black artists, and expose both aspiring writers and potential fans to incredibly imaginative, witty and sophisticated storytelling that challenge our perceptions of what is possible.” ~TAMBAY A. Well is been a while since I've just made a statement, but I feel that now is the time.

I love to write, I enjoying posting to my blogs, and I like social networking, but these things are quite difficult to do when you're sick all the time. Even though I fight to get over my ailments, sometimes they get the better of me. I will make every effort I can to be as consistent as possible with this blog, but don't be too surprised if I go M.I.A. again.

I promise, I will always come back and start just where I left off.
